This election is a referendum on Barack Obama and his liberal/progressive agenda. It is a referendum on the tactics employed by his cohorts in the Democrat Party to enact it, despite resistance or outright refusal on the part of “we, the People” to tolerate them. This is a reckoning between the American people and those that mean to lead us…and it is a time in our nation’s history like no other in recent memory.
I have a love – hate relationship with Peggy Noonan…there-it’s out now.
During the early to middle Bush years we were like peas and carrots, Peggy and I. Mid to late years, and her anti-Iraq equivocation and left-lurches to the dark side? Not so much. Early Obama? Nope…not at all; she was chillin’ in Berkely, and I was driving around in circles on my red Snapper.
This approach to a promised method of governance is not a good long-term strategy. Trying to convince us that they have heard our anger, feel our pain, understand our frustration, and share our goals is an embarrassment among reasoned and reasonable men.
A reminder to all the Politicians out there courting favor with a grassroots movement like no other in recent memory:
Clearly the Democrats don’t *get* the Tea Party, and they don’t *get* why these ‘crazy’ people are having such an effect on some of these races; people are fed up with what has become of their Government, and they are demanding change.
Yes Mr. Clinton…the 1996 version of you seems to be exactly what the Tea Party folks had in mind when they demanded a change in leadership.
The Government is broken. The Tea Party has been energized to get up off their couches and get out on the streets to make their voices heard. They have succeeded, and have not focused solely on Democrats…but on a few Republicans as well (Mike Castle anyone?).
The Tea Party was born specifically because of the collective malfeasance on the part of the very people who are singularly to blame for having conceived it. The irony is rich with this one folks.
Does anyone really believe that acts of racism (real or contrived) on the part of individual members of the Tea Party movement will, if found and made public on yet another new weblog, have any effect on the conditions of life amongst African Americans in this country?
Government has grown too large, and its tentacles reach too deep into our personal lives and our livelihoods. It spends American treasure on wasteful initiatives at a TRILLIONS of dollars rate faster than its revenues can keep pace with. These, just like Paine’s, truly are the times that try men’s souls.
